Knerd\u201d mean, anyway?\u00a0 I could let it be a mystery, but I don\u2019t think it\u2019s a very good one, and I\u2019d rather save those mystery credits for stuff that\u2019s actually worth the suspense.<\/p>\n<p>G. Knerd is short for Gnittink Knerd.\u00a0 \u201cGnittink\u201d is really just \u201cKnitting\u201d spelled backwards.\u00a0 At the time I came up with the name, I was unreasonably tickled by the idea that the word \u201cKnitting\u201d would be a palindrome if you just left off the first and last letters.\u00a0 We\u2019ll not speak of how much time I spent giggling as I tried to explain it to my friends \u2013 there\u2019s good evidence that maybe I shouldn\u2019t try to name things, especially late at night.<\/p>\n<p>So that explains the \u201cG.\u201d part, but the \u201cKnerd\u201d?\u00a0 Well, at the same time I was giggling about the \u201cKnitting\u201d becoming \u201cGnittink\u201d thing, I also started thinking about how \u201cKnitting\u201d starts with a \u2018K\u2019, but it\u2019s a silent \u2018K\u2019\u2026and how often do you see a silent \u2018K\u2019, anyway?\u00a0 And then I thought about how I was really a nerd (no, really, have been for a very long time, and proud of it), and I thought to myself, \u201cWell, wouldn\u2019t it be neat if I added a silent \u2018K\u2019 to \u201cnerd\u201d as well?\u00a0 It wouldn\u2019t change the pronunciation, but it would make it kind of awesome.\u201d\u00a0 (Yes, I know, I shouldn\u2019t be put in charge of naming things.)<\/p>\n<p>And thus was \u201cG. Knerd\u201d created.\u00a0 I\u2019ve used the persona a couple times here or there, I\u2019m on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravelry.com\/people\/GKnerd\" target=\"_blank\">Ravelry<\/a> with it (although I don\u2019t spend much time there), I\u2019ve tried experimenting with <a href=\"http:\/\/gnittinkknerd.blogspot.com\" target=\"_blank\">blogging<\/a> with it before (with minimal success, mostly due to lack of time and \u00a0proper camera equipment), but I\u2019ve never really commited.<\/p>\n<p>Until now.\u00a0 I\u2019m going to do this blogging thing for real this time.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4 \" title=\"DSCN9629\" src=\"http:\/\/gknerd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/DSCN9629-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"The Yarn Goes Marching On and On, Hurrah....\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-4\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Yarn Goes Marching Four by Four, Hurrah....<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Eventually, I think people will probably wonder: What does \u201cG.
