{"id":842,"date":"2011-10-04T21:24:57","date_gmt":"2011-10-05T04:24:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gknerd.com\/?p=842"},"modified":"2011-10-04T21:24:57","modified_gmt":"2011-10-05T04:24:57","slug":"4x415","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gknerd.com\/?p=842","title":{"rendered":"4&#215;4=15?!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ll be the first to admit that I&#8217;ve had <a href=\"http:\/\/gknerd.com\/index.php\/2011\/08\/29\/never-underestimate-the-importance-of-counting\/\">counting problems<\/a> in the past.\u00a0 I&#8217;d like to say that usually I can make it to at least twenty without an issue, but<a href=\"http:\/\/gknerd.com\/index.php\/2010\/02\/26\/they-got-me-again\/\"> experience would say otherwise<\/a>.\u00a0 For the Wedding Blanket II, though, I&#8217;m not sure if what I&#8217;m experiencing is a counting problem or negligence.<\/p>\n<p>Remember when I started this thing, and I mentioned that putting the yarn together to knit from was like <a href=\"http:\/\/gknerd.com\/index.php\/2011\/03\/02\/it-doesnt-count-if-im-not-knitting-it\/\">knitting from a kit<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-660\" title=\"P1020476\" src=\"http:\/\/gknerd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/P1020476.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"425\" height=\"318\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So&#8230;each kit made four squares.\u00a0 And I&#8217;ve gone through four kits.<\/p>\n<p>However, I only have fifteen squares on the pile.<\/p>\n<p>I really do not know how this happened.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve got a few theories, though:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Gnomes and\/or stash weasels<\/li>\n<li>I didn&#8217;t finish one of the kits for some reason<\/li>\n<li>I did knit a sixteenth square, but put it somewhere it wasn&#8217;t supposed to be<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Now, if theory 1 or 2 is correct, I should cast on another square and just get it finished.\u00a0 On the other hand, if theory 3 turns out to be right then I&#8217;ll end up with seventeen squares (because you just know I&#8217;ll find the missing square as soon as I finish the replacement), and since seventeen is a prime number that would make a pretty odd-shaped blanket.<\/p>\n<p>For now, I&#8217;m somewhat ignoring the issue by doing everything else that needs to be done, like sewing up a small seam in the middle of each square and weaving in the ends in the center.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not going to tell you how many ends that will end up being, but if you want a bit of a hint&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/gknerd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/P1030335.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"425\" height=\"318\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;it&#8217;s a lot.<\/p>\n<p>Also, I really do have to figure out what I&#8217;m going to do about the border at some point.\u00a0 Let me know if you have any suggestions&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ll be the first to admit that I&#8217;ve had counting problems in the past.\u00a0 I&#8217;d like to say that usually I can make it to at least twenty without an issue, but experience would say otherwise.\u00a0 For the Wedding Blanket II, though, I&#8217;m not sure if what I&#8217;m experiencing is a counting problem or negligence.
