I never thought I’d actually see this day.\u00a0 Okay, to be fair, when I started the Wedding Blanket<\/a> I had every intention of being done in time for my friend’s wedding on Sept 17th, 2010, and I’m only<\/em> 13 months late (not counting however long it will take to get plane tickets to visit her and give it to her in person), but once I’d started the project and realized how much of a shrink hole<\/a> it was, I’d despaired of ever seeing the end of it.<\/p>\n

But, my lovelies, it is well and truly done<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

All the ends are woven in, all the seams are done, all the pieces are blocked, all the parts are knitted – there is nothing at all left to do on this blanket.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Nothing, that is, but marvel at its beauty.\u00a0 I’m not sure exactly where it all came from, but there is some absolutely gorgeous stuff in this blanket.\u00a0 Such as the mitered corners on the border (which were in no small part responsible for my need to do corrective surgery<\/a> on it).\u00a0 Totally worth the hassle now, though.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Or the sheer elegance of cables and traditional stitch patterns worked at scale.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Or what a lovely package it makes, all folded up and ready to be gifted to a not-quite-newly married couple.<\/p>\n

Now that it’s all done, I’m starting to wonder…<\/p>\n

…what if I kept it for myself and told her I’d lost it?\u00a0 That would be wrong, right?\u00a0 Sigh.\u00a0 Maybe I’ll just have to knit a second one for myself.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
